Over the past 20 years, we’ve been lucky to have some incredible projects -- like this Lake Joseph cottage.

Year: 2008 - 2009

Throughout our 20 years of stunning projects and beautiful builds, the ones that stand out the most are those that present a bit of a challenge. Perched off of Lake Joseph, the Don Price Cottage was one of those projects that sparks joy whenever we look back at it. With a unique building location, the Don Price build took some ingenuity and creativity to complete. Nestled in the heart of cottage country, this 2008-2009 build was a steep, intense project that was 100 percent worth it.

Built on Lake Joseph, our client was a busy sales executive in Oakville looking for a getaway in the rolling hills of cottage country. The stunning lot for building was parked on a steep, challenging lot that did not allow for maneuvering. To even begin building the lower level of the cottage, we actually had to build a so-called ‘basement’ to fill with gravel. All in all, the cottage ended up with three complete levels -- engineered filled foundation to support the next two levels of living space for an overall simple floor plan and design. With a lower walkout, main floor and upper loft on top of the filled-in basement, the cottage was quite an undertaking in itself.

The Don Price Cottage was completed with log construction, and we strove for a true “cottage-y” feel with logs, fireplaces and wood finishes throughout the home. The “cherry on top” continues to be its absolutely spectacular views, taken in by any resident or guest through decks with glass railings. Though a challenging project, the Don Price build was absolutely an achievement that we’re incredibly proud of.
